how do i paint metal ceiling on my car port manufactured home

You can use a roller or spray,your choice.

Not sure what a manufactured home has to do with a carport.
Is it rusted, peeling paint?

Just be sure to clean it well to remove dirt, mildew, and any chalkiness. Do this with warm water and maybe some Krud Kutter added for cleaning power. Use a soft bristle scrub brush, dip it in a bucket filled with your cleaning mixture and go to town. Rinse well with a garden hose. Of course you can skip these steps if you have access to a pressure washer. Allow to dry thoroughly, and, as suggested, use a brush or roller and apply 2 coats of your favorite latex paint.

Prepare as Gymshu suggests. Uou are most likely looking at powder-coated metal, which will require a primer. A high-Bonding acrylic primer with rust-inhibitors is what you will need. For a finish, find a Rust-Oleum dealer and ask for Metal Max by Sierra Performance Coatings. It has the bonding and tough, weather & rust-resistance that you will need.

Metal outdoors in Sarasota is in a severe marine environment. Regular acrylic house paint will promote rust. If your roof is galvanized, do not use an oul-based paint on it; it will most assuredly peel.

All mobile home carport roofs down here are aluminum.

mr paint is right, acrylics do way better on galvanizing. best scenario is to use a 100% acrylic elastomeric roof coating system (something like KST, or snowroof brand). but, since it is the interior ceiling of the carport you can probably get away with just using acryic DTM (direct to metal) from a sherwin or something comparable.
