Lucite Paint

So this past week I've been helping a friend get his house fixed and ready to sell, after some meth-addict tenants destroyed it.

We got as far as painting, and I've been going to town on interior walls and trim.

He bought a bunch of Lucite Paint. I'm not sure where he bought it. Don't know what he paid for it.

Have any of you used the stuff? It wasn't the worst crap I've used, but certainly not top-end stuff.

What are your experiences with it?

Lucite Paint

I have tried it---The paint was unusable in my opinion---we bought good paint and used the Lucite to paint the basement---Once was enough for me---

Sounds about right.

The satin we rolled onto the walls actually wasn't bad at all. I'd lump it in with middle-of-the-road paints like Behr, Valspar & Glidden.

But the white semi-gloss I used on the trim was extremely frustrating. It just didn't cover. Some spots took 3 coats to even begin to cover some light tan paint.

Lucite Paint

Lucite is, or was, a pioneer in the introduction of acrylic coatings. Many artist colors use lucite licensed technology in rich, colorfast colors that one supposes turn into $seven figure paintings.

Lucite interior paints were among the first solid acrylic paints on the market. They sucked because the company jumped to market with hideous chemistry that did not stick well to anything. It still does not and I am surprised it is still sold.

I seem to remember back in the late sixties early seventies Lucite wall paint gel flow .a thick gel paint that would not drip.

Lucite Paint

There primer is really thin. There paint sucks compared to bm or sw. I used once back in 2002 before i found contractor talk forum and read the painters section. I ended up re doing the bathroom with bulleyes and zinseer perma white.
