Looking for a match for Benjamin Moore "Ultra White" semi-gloss

Hi everyone,

Over the past couple of years we painted out a new mantlepiece, trim, doors and kitchen cupboards in a Benjamin Moore semi-gloss called "Ultra White". I don't have the old can anymore but it was an untinted base and it came in a can with a white and light purple label.

When I went back for one final can to finish off out ground floor trim, they had discontinued this line of paint. I bought a can of their new product, called "Ben" in white and the colour looks YELLOW next to the Ultra White. I took it back to the store but they can't do much to help... the contractor grade is probably the closest to the same level of white, but not white enough to do any touch ups without repainting everything!

Does anyone know of a white in another brand that would be as white as the "Ultra White"? I don't want to have to run around buying a ton of paint from different stores to keep trying through trial and error....

Sherwin Williams has what is called Luminescent White (or the last time I checked for it they did). Really stark white or should I say brand new snow on a sunny day without any dogs around.

Not sure if you can get it in quarts.

Ultra White is still available

You must be from Canada, the product that you are looking for is Moorestyle Acrylic Semi Gloss Ultra white product code 56801. This product IS NOT presently discontinued by Benjamin Moore Canada but many of the retailers have stopped stocking this product in favour of the new "ben" line which offers several improvements including lower VOC's, a waterborne tinting system that does not add additional voc's. You are correct that the white in 'ben' would appear to be more yellow in comparison, with Ultra white, which actually has a bit of a blue tint to enhance the brightness.

Your local Benjamin Moore dealer should be able to order this in for you, even if the store no longer stocks it. If you have trouble send me an email at dayspaint@shaw.ca and I will have someone from Benjamin Moore contact you to find a dealer close to your that will bring it in for you.
