kitchen cabinets

Here is what I am planning to do to my kitchen.

This is a small one bedroom apartment.
I don't want to paint the apartment as it was recently painted.
you can see the kitchen was painted a different color.

my plan is to paint the cabinet bodies black or another dark color. add knobs. new counter tops the same color, a little darker if i can, and a ledge that comes out over stool/seating in the living room side, and move the microwave to above the stove. also adding a cabinet above the refrigerator.

As you might be able to tell i removed a wall that was at the end of the island counter.
this apartment is being put up for sale. What do you all think?

Here is with the cabinet over the fridge.
I think the kitchen should be the same color as the house but maybe gloss since i'm guessing its easier to clean in a kitchen and why they did that.

If I were to get new cabinets, what is the rule usually for how high above the sink to put it? I was thinking of getting rid of the tall skinny one and just getting a taller bigger one above the sink that comes down lower.
Also if I got new cabinets, I am not really looking forward to picking out a wood. I want paintable cabinets so it's easier to match countertops, which is why I don't want to buy new ones, but I am told that i can't buy that door style anymore to match the existing for the new one I need to buy for above the refrigerator?

I am not sure if the original poster is following this thread???? Rather than changing out cabinets in a rental, what about doing shelving above the sink area. One or two shelves would give you storage and or focal points that the kitchen is now lacking.

Yes i'm still here.
I ordered matt finish laminate Ubatuba Granite color counters.
I also purchased black with a hint of green paint for the cabinet bodies and inside of the cabinets.
I am building cabinets for above the refrigerator and purchased a hood microwave combo.
I may still get a 30 inch cabinet for above the sink so that it's more usable/lower down the line.

I like the look of it. However, it just looks like something else needs to be black as well. The black is floating in mid air and something to anchor it would complete. What color will the youtube (UbaTuba. That sounds like Fat Albert (Bill Cosby for you young folks) trying to say You Tube.) counters be? It would be sweet if the appliances were black.
I wouldn't paint the inside of the cabinets dark personally.

Sorry, the ubatuba is a neutral green marble looking color. I didn't notice it until a guy at home depot pointed out that the existing wall colors have green in them. That is why I didn't go solid black on the cabinets but a black with green it it as well.
That is a good suggestion about figuring out a way to tie the black cabinet bodies into the rest of it. Possibly something simple with the backsplash area.
