You and all too! And a safe one. Firefighters get worried around the 4th and especially when it is so dry. Might be best to restrain from tossing bottle rockets and so forth this year?

And don't forget that by the time you realize you are dehydrating you are probably well into the process. Minimize the intake of alcoholic and caffeine bevarages (iced tea, coffee, colas, Mt. Dew) if you are going to be partaking in outdoor activites and expending lots of natural hydration. Drink lots of water.

Contrary to what the tanning industry says, radiation damage is cumulative so wear sun screen.

Legal Mexican crews of mine in the landscape industry taught me about Jicama. They always had it in their lunch boxes on hot days and finally shared a piece. Biting into a chilled piece was like having chewable ice water. It has a slightly rooty taste but is very neutral. It has an extremely high moisture content.

It is no substitute for drinking lots of fluids but sure is refreshing.

It looks like a big, ugly root thing and is found in the produce section. It has a thick skin that requires a sharp knife or peeler to get off. Once peeled you can slice, dice or "matchstick" its frosty white flesh. You can pair it with just about anything because of its neutral taste.

I make summer salad with jicama and a light rice bran oil, honey, lime juice habenero pepper and cilantro.

Interesting-- My wife uses Hic- uma (LOL) once in a while, but never thought of it as a cooling device.
Chris- BTW- I'm working ( at a neighbors- some little stuff) too. Got paint on my hands as we speak.

Stumbled over these collapsible bottles over the weekend. They run about $5. You can refrigerate or even freeze them. You can buy various carriers for another $6 or combined set-ups for $10 which are not bad. Seems like you could lay them out in the bottom of a tool carrier more easily than a thermal bottle. Price point seems alright?

I leave with a frozen gallon jug of water in the cooler every day this time of year.

Keeps the cooler contents cold (and dry) and melts off just right throughout the day for all the ice cold water I can chug.

Looks like only 17 oz from that company. Found this search for "Collapsible Water Bottles" and even a 5er. There were collapsible canteens.
