Interior oil based paint then latex exterior

Can I use interior alkyd primer first then latex exterior for an exterior project? I need to paint a boat house and I have a gallon and a half of interior alkyd primer. If I can use that on an exterior paint project rather than buying another gallon of primer, that would be great. Can someone give me some advice

Buy another gallon of EXTERIOR primer

Interior and Exterior primers are engineered for different properties and purposes. The temptation to think they're all alike is understandable. An exterior alkyd primer has better penetration and better moisture resistance.

You can buy an Interior/Exterior acrylic primer such as Zinsser 1-2-3. This is a high-adhesion, fast-dry product that can be used on numerous surfaces.
