Interior latex on exterior surface

Sherwin Williams always has interior latex samples. The employee at SW told me that I would have no problem applying the interior latex paint to my siding as long as I painted over it with an exterior grade paint. I want to paint some of the trim with the sample color to see what it looks like. I just wanted to double check with you guys.

Interior latex on exterior surface

You are going to use interior paint outside
Then paint over it with exterior
Why ??

Just using paint sample to see what you like?
I wouldn't do it
Paint a board or something & hold it up
