k well i have just recently moved to a new town and i am trying to get my painting business started. i have already went around and handed my business card out to all of the paint suppliers in town and now i am working on a business letter to send to the construction contractors to promote myslef. The problem is that i cannot find the right words to do it. If anybody has any tips i would appreciate them greatly.

Go see contractors in person, give them your card and advertise. Don't skimp on advertising. It works. Use the newspaper, radio, yellow pages.
Use word of mouth, do a volunteer project at the church. Your sphere of influence will get you better, more loyal customers and referrals.

Flyers and mass mailings help, but are not nearly as effective.
