I bought paint yesterday, but I hate it today
I hate making decisions, especially if I'm going to be stuck with them for years! I imagined my room to be purple but at Home Depot I bought blue paint. I liked that paint when I saw it at the store but now I despise it.
Buying another can of paint is not an option, so is there anything I can do? I need answers fast, please!

get out your rose colored glasses and wear them when in that room, then it will look purple.

then either shell out the $$$ and buy the right color or live with what you got!
sheesh...how hard is that? if you have some left, get it tinted!

FYI, Sherwin will sell you a quart of "sample paint" (Color-To-Go) of almost any color for $5. You still have to topcoat it with two coats of real paint, but those $5 quarts can save you big bucks and lots of time when you realize you hate the color you have chosen.

The color probably looked purple in the store because of the lighting there. At home, you have different lighting, which makes the paint color look different than the color you meant to pick out.
Try replacing the light bulbs in the painted room with CFL's, they might produce the same fluorescent lighting that's in the store and make your paint look like the color you wanted.

Paint is something you cant change every now and than. I would suggest don't use the color you don't like. Go and buy another bucket.
lighint might change the tone but wont make it purple.

Depending on how knowledgeable the paint staff at your local HD is, and depending on that department's policies on such things, and depending on what color you have and what color you want, there is a chance a few ounces of the proper tint might be able to shift this paint over into a more purple, or at least more acceptable, shade or color
Couldn't hurt to bring it back and (very nicely) ask

I'm not saying the light will turn blue paint into purple. The paint card she picked out in the store looked purple under the the store's fluorescent lighting. But incandescent lighting in her home is causing the color to look blue. The amount of natural light coming in the room from outside makes a difference too.
