how to spray finish carpentry?

I want to spray the NEW finish carpentry in the house. I am planning to spray egg-shell oil based paint, and most of the millwork is pre-primed mdf. The finish i want to achieve is a very flat/smooth finish. What I seem to be ending up with is a lot of tight orange peel. I am using an airless sprayer.

What am I doing wrong?

What specific paint are you using right now and from how far away are you spraying? It sounds like your paint is not leveling well and/or drying too quickly and/or has insufficient sheen.

Also, when you say "flat", do you mean level and smooth, or do you mean flat, as in the sheen that is the opposite of glossy?

I am using a zinsser primer.

I am using our local paint store Cloverdale paint premium eggshell alkyd.

When i say flat, I mean level and smooth, not flat-sheen. i have done some "research" and perhaps it is not levelling. The drying too fast could be a possibility too . . . when I put more paint on, it "levels" out better, but I wonder if it is possible to get it looking "perfect". I have some mdf wainscotting that I will be painting later, and I really don't want to screw it up!

Which airless, and what tip and pressure are you using?
This information is important to troubleshoot your problem

To go along with slickshift's questions, are you thinning it at all? If so, with what?

ok that last reply i didn't understand.

However, for the other fellows, I am using a 410 tip with a titan sprayer set on about 3/4. I'm not sure the exact pressure it is. i am thinning it with paint thinner.

For trim i would use a 211 tip or a 310 fine finish tip. What kind of sprayer is being used? I know you said a Titan but is it a Home depot job or is like a 440 or 640? Do not thin to much, on the flip side of that oil primer is bes when thinned a little.
