How to paint galvanized?

I've got some 1 x 2 galvanized corner bead trim in my garage that I need to paint. The top coat I want to use is latex. What is the best way to get the paint to stick? Can I rattle can them with metal etching primer first? Or will latex primer work?

Sand them and wipe them down with vinegar or lacquer thinner to get any residual oils off the galvanized. Then use a good acrylic primer and paint. I usually us a DTM on galvanized but regular latex should work fine.

Wash them with a mixture of vinegar and water. Then rinse afterward. Then paint as you would any metal. I did that with some galvanized metal 10 years ago and the paint still looks new.
