I will be painting my living room soon, I am going with Benjamin moore paint, which isn't cheap. I don't want to grossly over buy, but I don't want to fall short. I have heard that what they say for coverage on the can isn't accurate. How do you pros guestimate paint coverage. Do you trust what they say on the can and add a little more, or is there a better way to figure out how much I will need?
yup great advice 1 gallon covers about 350 - 400 square feet per gallon but it depends on how the wall takes the paint, whether you prime etc but 400-450 square feet is a pretty good measure and if you go with the 450 you might have to go back for some paint but if you are concerned about overspending then figure it going further than it might. When you go to buy the paint have them give you or have them store the formula for your paint then if you need to go back they can quickly gate you another gallon plus if you have the formula (which should be on the label on top of the can) you can repurchase the same color in 10 years if you decide to repaint.
