Our house is full of textured walls and we have been trying to tape off the walls using the good painters tape but the paint still gets under the tape. Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop this from happening.
Go over the tape with a very dry brush (just a little paint on it). This should create a seal between the tape and the wall after it dries. Then go back and put on a little heavier coat of paint the next time.
Thanks that's a good suggestion. I've also heard about using painter's caulking on top of the tape and then painting over the caulking and when you remove the tape some of the caulking stays on the wall and prevents the paint getting under the tape. Has anyone used that before?
I've heard of several ways to prevent bleed when used with smooth walls (thin caulk, burnishing the tape, "frog tape", etc.) but I don't know of any ways to tape textured walls. Just a good brush and a steady hand...
I have rental property and I have to repaint after every turn around. What I found that best works is, I use a piece of plexy glass and slide it flush agianst trim. I have that I can keep less paint off the trim and makes the job faster as you do not have to tape all the trim.
