Question

How to cover oil-based stain on bare sheetrock

I fell off of the step stool, dropped the brush and splattered oil-based stain on unpainted sheet rock. Is there anything I can do to prepare the sheet rock for covering with water-based latex without replacing the sheet rock?

Thanks in advance,
Jim

Just use a primer that's compatable with a oil based paint surface. Have the paint store tint the primer to half the color code of your desired top coat.

Maybe just get a spray can of Bin just for the areas where the stain hit the wall.
