Question

Help with Painting wall textures

HELP!
We recently had drywall put up in our basement. I started paining last night. I used a high quality semi-gloss paint containing a primer, hoping to only use 1 coat. When I looked at the walls this A.M. I noticed that every couple of feet the wall look streaky ( I think beacuse it had a moresmooth finish). Mu guess is that the builders mudded and sanded by the studs - every couple feet, and that part of the wall is more smooth . . . . It looks rather bad.

My question is - now that I have 1 coat of paint on, how can I fix this? Help!
