help with painting unfinish basement ceiling

i just started spray painting my basement ceiling (unfinish wood). I tried my best to clean it very well and then I prime it was latex paint (lowes primer). I eventually spray it with latex paint (kilz 330 flat white).

The question I have is, there are still some areas of the unfinish wood showing through the paint (brown). Is there anything I could do to better hide certain areas? I have tried sprayng it with a additional layer but still couldn't hide the brown.

Switch to a QUALITY primer and paint which means a trip to a real paint store.

That raw wood is sucking in the primer. After the prime is dry it should seal the wood, so that the next coat of paint ( paint will cover better than primer- primer will seal and hold better than paint) will cover better.
You might be getting some knot bleed, and if you do you will need to hit those with shellac based BIN. a spray can of bin might be the way to handle those.

thanks for the info

I will use shellac based BIN and cover those spots.
