help with metalic spray paints , lacquering

i recently tried to make my own control pad , i first brought some cheap silver mirror chrome paint for 1.50 per 200ml , but this came out grey ... i then brought some 4 for 400ml this looked great , but i then read that metalic spray paints reflect light and if used with a lacquer it makes it look dull. the item i am trying to copy have been lacquerd im sure , as if it hasnt the item he sells would get bad reviews as its a control pad it gets handled daily and im pretty sure its a good hard finish but still keeps the chrome mirror finish

here is the item im trying to copy ....

, i wonderd if plastikote could help so i emaild them and asked if there was any way to do this with plastikote and all they did was dodge the question ,

"Sorry we would not recommend this product for your application, it is not hard enough.
The normal metallics are much harder, however spraying control pads is not something we would recommend. "

so my question is any1 know how they make a chrome looking paint like this wile using lacquers? or are they using industrial paint or something expensive? , and am i gonna get a finish like this using spray cans?
