Help with "leather" faux finish on walls

I followed the directions at in order to create a leather look to my bedroom walls. The problem came during Step 4, when I was to apply "McCloskey Special Effects translucent color glaze (Mocha)" as my final top coat to give luster and depth to the walls. While I followed the instructions and used a foam roller, the result was disastrous. I could see every roll, every edge, and if I covered an area twice, the result was a deeper tone. It looked so awful that I let it dry and then went back to Steps 1 and 2.

I now have a nice look, but it is basically "flat" and I'd like to use some kind of clear glaze or varnish over the walls to give them a sheen. There is NO WAY I'm going to add colorant again; I just want something clear that will go on easily over what I have right now.

Can someone offer some suggestions?
