Help with color for my fence

Hello,

First post and Im getting ready to paint my fence and included a picture. You can see it by the garage and also where it divides me and neighbors. Its currently painted Redwood and I wanted to get a few opinons. Also included is a back yard shot of the garden and fence.

The fence was painted when I bought the place about 5 years ago and needs to be repainted. Personally, I would never paint a fence but once you do it, once must continue painting it.

What color would you paint it?

1. repaint it the same color
2. repaint it the color of the trime (its chocolate color)
3. go with a color that is the darkest in the brick
4. other suggestions

I would paint it dark to make it go away, right now it's competing with your beautiful house and it's too red. Going with the trim color is a good idea, and you could even double up on the tint making for a new color.

Paint it flat, or for a little weather protection a low sheen.

No doubt, cedar, like the house siding.

I polled the neighbors and chocolate was towards the top (dark is in according to one neighbor) and "anything other than that red". Trim of the house color was also mentioned.

I think its either trim chocolate or cedar siding color. My thoughts on cedar color siding may be too much cedar color blending together?

I may do a little photo shop experimentation.

I suck at visualizing a finished product.

It's reasonable to want the fence to contrast the home, but what you are really contrasting is the surrounding land, sky, lawn, and other outside colors. Cedar will naturally flow, and it won't be "too much".

23 yrs painting and countless cedar homes. Trust me on this.

Go get a quart of each color and paint large areas, both in the sunny side and the shady area.
