haze on timber

We have been renovating a 1920s rail carriages and have cleaning all of the timber and pressed metal and either recoated with oil based paint or oiled the surface with a product called penitrol oil. This was done in the warmer months, since then the surfaces have developed a haze/fog on the surface. It can be wiped off but reappears a few days later, we are at a loss to know what the problem is. We don't think it is blooming and we have insulated the carriage thoroughly to prevent changed in temperature. Any suggestions?

Floods penetrol is a paint conditioner, used for making oil based paint flow better. What should have been used is a wood penetrating oil, but that is hind sight now. Since I have never been in your shoes, I would be guessing about what you should do as to a fix. So here is my guess, get some wood penetrating oil and coat to cover what you have done.......... Hope it works out for you.
