hardwood floor stain
I recently stained a newly sanded floor with mimwax stain using a staining pad on a pole as directed by the counter person at Sherman Williams. The stain is a lot darker than the sample and did not dry completly overnight. The floor has sticky spots. Is there a way to get this to harden other than resanding?

I know this isn't much help to you now, but the only way to apply stain is to brush it on and rag it off. You have stain pooled at the surface caused by applying more than could be absorbed by the wood - that is why it is wet, and darker than expected. Give it some more time to dry out and reassess. If you can live with the color and it is not blotchy then do your clear coats, otherwise re-sand it.
