graco airless w/ latex paint - dilute yes/no

Hello & thanks for taking the time to read my post.

I have an old graco hydraulic type airless paint sprayer. I'm painting my house w/ Sherwin-Williams latex flat exterior. I've seen ads for additives to put into the paint to "extend", "thin" or "flow" the paint more easily. As a concept this sounds good but I' a skeptic (and cheap too) as to whether these additives do anything that plain ole water couldn't do.

Anybody have any experience w/ these additives?

I've used an airless before (waaay before like 1980) and other than straining the paint and perhaps adding a little water I never used them

Paint is however very expensive but this is also the very LAST time I will be painting my house (or anyone else's) so I want it to last FOREVER.

Thanks for any advice/experiences you care to send me

If it doesn't spray as is--use Flotrol--not water---You don't need much---

A good tip for spraying on a hot day----cover the open bucket with a wet towel---that help keep the paint from clotting and plugging up the filter .---Mike---
