Glazing over high gloss paint

I painted my kitchen cabinets bright white with high gloss paint. I want to glaze over them. What do I have to do to make the glaze stick without sanding them down?

Glazing over high gloss paint

Why would you want to do that?

I an not sure I understand either and why you used a high gloss paint if you knew you were going to put a glaze over it?

In any event, ONCE THE PAINT HAS FULLY CURED you can hit it with a chemical deglosser and the glaze should stick. If you use the deglosser before the paint has cured you could end up with a mess.

I think you will want to stick with a compatible glaze---latex/acrylic if that is what you put on the cabinets or oil if that is what you used.

Glazing over high gloss paint

I'm sorry for not being more specific.

I painted the cabinets about 8 years ago. I have several large dogs (one that jumps against the cabinets) and 2 sons that are not exactly careful. Over the years, the cabinets have stained with car grease around the handles and there are chips here and there.

We're getting ready to move and I want the quickest and easiest fix to spruce them up to look good for the renters. I thought if I went over them with a chocolate glaze, it would accentuate the few chips to make them look old (the house is 34 years old) and hide some of the other imperfections.
