Getting paint to stick to pressure-treated lumber?
There is a 2"x8" strip of pressure treated lumber that basically is a ledger that was used to build a small add-on deck/step and mudroom on the side of the house. The house trim is white, and the previous owner who did this attempted to paint it but of course it is all peeling off. It looks like hell, and it is the first thing people see when they enter the house.
I can't pull the board out without tearing down the whole add-on. All I really want to do is clean it up and get it white (if I can). Is there anything I can do to accomplish this?
If you have some basic carpentry skills, you could nail a piece of hardie plank over top of the treated piece and paint it. I've done this in the past with great success. Saves you the trouble of scraping, priming, etc.
