Finally got a chance to use Behr

After close to 30 years in the business I finally got a chance to use Behr premium exterior today. I have to say, I was surprised. It covered fine and went on pretty smooth. The color was a red over faded shutters and it covered fine with one coat. I would use it again. It wouldn't be my first choice but it did a good job.

Come back 5 or 6 years from now and tell us how it held up

Let alone 10.

Red Dog, Behr is like that. Goes on nice, looks good, acts like real paint, then, KA-BOOM, peeling and fading sometimes within a year's time.

Coverage, hide, and a relatively easy application is all Behr concerns themselves with. That's what sells paint to the un-informed masses.

Here in Fla.'s brutal summer sun fading has been the big problem.

It's pretty brutal here in Carolina too. 95 to 100+ degree days for weeks at a time will show me what it's made of for sure.

Even if it stays on, come back in a few years and try to "touch-up" the south side.

I personally don't mind their exterior paints. They're thick and one coat is sufficient most of the time. Behr's interior paints is the stuff I stay away from. I still remember a horrible paint job due to junk being in the paint. I had always used higher quality paints before and never filtered the paint... Behr is the paint that introduced me to filtering.

you're in LA and you use Behr? How unusual.

I know that formulations change as fast as a dog sheds its fur, but I painted one column on my porch seven years ago before going overseas. It was Behr Premium Plus, maybe Ultra, and it still looks new, clean, white, pearlescent almost. It's a beautiful appearance. I won't hesitate to reuse this stuff to finish my porch.

I've had mixed results. One can worked great, another, not so much.

I'll add to this older thread.

My south facing wood garage door was painted with behr hi gloss enamel, peach and white 2-tone. This was at least over 6 years ago.
Gets slammed with sun everyday.

no peeling.

I guess it all depends what color and sheen you choose.
