Fiberglass door

Help! Purchased a fiberglass door from Lowes. I was told how easy it is to stain with the gel stain. After staining the inside of the door, I hate the way it turned out. I need some help on stripping the door and restaining or painting. Any suggestions? The frame around the glass looks blotchy and fake - not like wood.

Wow you shouldn't be messing around with gel stain if you don't know what your doing. I personally would have painted not stained. Sorry don't know what to tell you. You might have fried that door seeing how its fiberglass. Point being this would you use gel stain on a corvette. No... A corvette is fiberglass. You need to get a professional to see if he can make it look half way decent. Don't listen to those kids at lowes. You should have came here first and ask in painting how to approach that door.

Gel stain is not an inappriate thing to use on your door. The problem is that it takes experience to get them to look like wood. I would of suggested using old masters gel stain, or another option would of been www.thermatru.com.
Now if you want to paint the door and have not used sealer or polly yet, lightly sand the door and prime with bin, or kilz. Then proceed to topcoat

I am looking for a professional stainer in my area to fix my badly stained fiberglass door. Does anyone have suggestions for the Tinley Park area? I used the gel stain for a natural wood look. They said it would be easy - but I found out the hard way. I am tempted to just put a primer on it and paint it now. Please Help!

Your in Tinley. 159th and harlem. I like bogards restaurant in tinley. Sorry i don't know of any painters in Tinley. Just look in yellow pages for a experience painter. Better yet look for a paint store in Tinley and ask them to refer you to a experience man. I'm not up on paint stores in tinley. Also i didn't now they had a lowes in Tinley. WE have one in bradley but i only slide through tinley on the way home everyonce in a while because of the 24 hour steak and shake. Look for a mom and pops paint store meaning a independent. Maybe there is one on oak park ave but not for sure. Lot of older business there.

You have a point. It just upset me because those kids at lowes are like hey gel stain. Point being they don't care if you know how to use it or not. I get to bc at least once a week. YVR.

darylh Absolutely once a week. Vancouver is a major route for american. Two of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver are Hamburger Mary's Diner
I think thats called the westend of town. Excellent burgers. The other is infinity (upscale great steak) Downtown but not over priced and great atmosphere. If i fly to YVR i'm done for the day and laid up until the morning.

Ps. Does the socialism medical you have in canada also cover dental visits for your citizens or is that medical only and you have to pay dental out of your own pocket.
