How to create a marble painted look on columns

"Recipes for Walls" is one starting point for exploring faux finishes. There are numerous other books. Your library should have shelves full. Amazon will happily sell you some. You will be out buying paints, glazes, brushes and feathers in no time too.

To me, most faux paint attempts look like faux paint attempts. If into that sort of look, why not use vinyl or paper printed with real marble images? (Do size or coat the wall so you can get the stuff off!).

Marbelizing paper like they used to do for bookplates can be fun. Scan the image when you get one you like and run it off at a large format printing place for a unique but still "high tack" interior look.

I'm not saying there are not good faux finishers and appropriate faux finishes when done. Most just end up looking really very tacky and out of place in new construction homes with 8' ceilings.

If you are near a university or in a City with theater? Hungry set designers will do their best to show you how they do faux finishes for chimp change and a sandwich.

I always used the kits that were sold in the big box stores for marbleing. It came with everything you needed. Granted, you had to tweak the colors a bit and work the veining a little, but, with practice, you could make a decent looking marble effect on just about anything. I have done tabletops & columns that still look good after many years.

You never know and maybe it was a bot search. What if not? I could not sleep tonight knowing someone was troubled over how to faux paint something.

And, no, I will not respond to just anything.
