Exterior Trim Painting Question

I'm sure this topic has been brought up before, however my house is being painted in the next couple of days and if I've made a mistake which areas to paint which color i need to know right away so that I can possibly stop the work and have it corrected.

I've chosen a medium sort of pastel green color for the main body paint color and a light creme color for the trim and accent painting. However what I'm unsure of is on the creme color, should I be painting the fascia, and soffit, or only the fascia?

Also, across the front of my house is a five post porch and archway that runs the length of the house. Should all of this be the green color? or the creme color?

Any advice is appreciated in advance.

Sounds like just personal preference. Sdsester is good with color advice. Maybe post a pic.

Exterior Trim Painting Question

We just painted our house. The base color (house color) is taupe and we did all the trim in white. The trim included all the fascia, soffits, and porch ceiling (the porch posts and railings are vinyl, as are the windows). Here's a picture for reference...

Thanks for the compliment. Unfortunately, I am not sure I can put the time into this until Monday when company arriving soon leaves.

However. There was a picture of a project on this site not long ago with a nice green siding and cream trim and I did think I would like but really did. The cream was carried around the house to all trim, including facia, porch structure and so forth. It looked nice even with the bright white vinyl of the new windows.

Shutters are another matter. You might want to pick a different shade of the green for them. Or you can pull one of the "reds" out your brick. It is not uncommon for people to pick a different color for the entry door. You can decide that later though.

I may have some time later and will try to get back to this.

Meanwhile, if not sure, by a quart of color in question and brush out a few square or linear feet on each surface you are not sure about. Then you will now. And it will be cheaper than buying gallons of paint you do not like.

Exterior Trim Painting Question

Thank you all for the great feedback!! As the majority of the paint is already purchased, I'm pretty well locked in on the color, but I think about it, and after seeing the pic posted by kimberland30, as well as looking at other houses online, I think I am starting to lean towards having all of the fascia and soffit, plus the underside of the porch and and posts in the cream color, and only the siding in the green.

As for the shutters, at the moment I'm leaning towards a very dark gray (almost black).

Something else worth mentioning, I've purchased all of the siding and trim paint in a satin finish, and plan to buy the paint I will use for the shutters in a semigloss. I think it will add a nice "pop" to the house. Just my opinion..

Again, thank you all for the great input!! I will be sure to post some after pics.

Exterior Trim Painting Question

As promised, here are some pics of the finished product!!! Was a little nervous during painting, but after seeing the finished product, I could not be happier with how everything turned out.. I decided to go with black instead of dark grey on the shudders and very glad that I did, I think the shudders really tie the whole thing together!! Thanks for the advice everyone!!!

Exterior Trim Painting Question

Looks Great! Question: Who goes out on the front roof to put up the flag?

Smart, having no gutters.

While that certainly isn't my color choice I wouldn't go as far as to say it's ugly.
