Exterior Paint recommendations

I am getting ready to repaint our house. The house is sided w/ Hardiplank and is about 6 years old. The builder used Frazee paint based on ICI colors. Does Frazee make good paint or is ICI better? Is there another brand that I should consider? I've seen other posts recommending Ben Moore and Sherwin Williams?

Thanks.

if you can afford it, SW seems to be the hands down winner around here.

Really, the top, or near top, paint from any actual paint store (i.e. NOT a Big Box store) will work. ICI makes fine paints, as does Sherwin or Ben Moore, Pratt & Lambert, Porter, etc.

Frazee is one of those small regional brands that possibly does have the advantage of making products customized for the climates common in their market area, instead of having to make products that try to work everywhere.

Question

Exterior Paint recommendations

Our new townehouse complex has hardiboard siding and we are planning to build a reserve fund to paint it in the future. Our contractor set an 8-yr life expectancy on the siding paint. Are you painting to change colors, or do we need to consider lowering our life expectancy?

Whether or not you need to consider lowering your life expectancy wholly depends on the quality of the prep and product for the existing coat. 8-yrs is fairly reasonable, assuming a quality existing job. It could be more or less, depending on prep, product, and climate.

Not sure if you're also debating paint colors, which I know can be exhausting! Here's some advice from the Paint Quality Institute about how to select exterior paint colors. Cool pictures, too.
