Exterior paint on brickwork peeling off - how to repaint
Our front garden brick wall was painted with exterior masonry paint - but its peeling and cracked and looks awful! The bricks underneath are bad quality so I just want to repaint the whole thing...is there any easy way of getting the paint off to start with a clean surface?
I've started scraping it off but its taking ages and bits of brick are coming off with the paint making it look even worse. Help! |

There is an "easier" way, but it's not really DIY friendly
Water/media blasting works well, but is best left to the pros Other than that, it's scrape and wire brush |

I suspect that you are going to have a really hard time getting any paint to stick to that wall without more prep unless there is a thick plastic liner behind the wall. Why? The moisture from the soil is going to push most coatings right off the brick. Maybe something like DryLock needs to go on first?
