Exterior Before and After

Here's a couple of shots of my house before and after it was painted last summer.

It was built in the early 60's and had never been painted. In person it was very dark and dreary, covered in spiders and dirt.

After my wife and I moved in we discovered more and more woodpecker holes, and rotted wood caused by a lack of maintenance and moisture from an overgrowth of trees around the house. We also replaced the garage doors and the front entry.

The paint was Sherwin Williams. Primer plus stain. I forget the paint colors we used... but I'll ask my wife. I can't remember exact paint names... silver and blue! But we are very pleased with the paint. There has been no stain bleeding through the finish coat.

Wow, what an incredible transformation. Peter D., thanks for sharing.........it's nice when someone shows us the results. So many times, posters come and go & never share their accomplishments. Well done!

Nice job Peter. That's an ambitious job for an HO, did you do all that yourself?

Thanks, everyone, for the many complements.

No, I didn't mean to give the impression we did the work ourselves. I just wanted to show what a dramatic change a good coat of paint can make to the curb appeal and value of a home.

I painted my mother's house twenty years ago... it was such misery I vowed I would never do it again! And the front door and windows required three carpenters working two days to get everything square.

Great transformation.

Did you and your wife tackle it together?
