Easy Question for those who paint :)
Started the project while hubby is at work... uh-oh and now I need to complete it before he gets home. So...
I painted my ceiling at 10 this morning, and I want to tape it off and do my walls this afternoon. How soon is it safe to put the painters tape on just to cut the corners??
It depends on the tape
Some need at least a week to cure, some longer
If you need to do this ASAP, I'd suggest dispensing with the tape idea
Yes, that's right...I think you should be a tape dispenser
We've had the paint tear off many times, even after a 24 hour dry time. :furious: Obviously, there's no way to predict this.
In taping the cut between the wall and the ceiling, you might want to reverse your procedure; it is much easier.
Load your brush with the wall color, then paint roughly 2 inches on the wall and about 1 inch on the ceiling, let dry. Then tape the wall, up to the ceiling joint. Then paint the ceiling, after two coats then remove tape.
Now you are ready to do the wall and you'll have a perfect cut all the way around the room without breaking your neck trying to tape the ceiling.
