I'm painting my detached garage (with Sherwin Wms. Superpaint flat exterior latex), and because the paint and siding are not in the greatest shape, and because I replaced some of the wood panels and added some new trim pieces, I decided to prime the entire thing with an oil-based primer.
I used 2 gallons of SW A100 oil-based exterior primer on three sides, and then I ran out.
I probably need between 1/4-1/3 gallon to finish up, and I happen to have just under a 1/2 gallon of Dutch Boy oil-based exterior primer sitting around. It's still pretty fresh, having been opened about 3 months ago, and I'd like to use it up, not to mention saving the $30-40 cost of an additional gallon of A100 primer.
My question is, is the sub-$20 Dutch Boy going to do it for me underneath the Superpaint product, or am I just asking for trouble on this side of the garage?
