Duration exterior second coat

Do I need to apply a second coat of Duration flat if sprayed on and back rolled. Original paint is A100 on pre primed Hardiboard. It is three years old. Live in Bluffton SC.

Duration exterior second coat

Not necessarily, Duration Can be a one coat system if its applied thickly enough. But unless the coating thickness was verified during application to be at least 8mil wet, then its safer to assume that a second coat would be required to have enough film build to be eligible for warranty.

Coating thickness of the dried film can be checked (and it certainly would be in the case of a warranty claim) but that requires special tools and in most cases is destructive to the coating.

Why not go ahead and do two coats and know it's done right? Are you just changing color or has the other paint failed after 3 years from only having one coat on the siding?
