hello, i hope this is the right section to list this so here goes .

im new to mudding drywall but ive read a-lot on how to repair
various holes and so on and seem easy enough to do .

my repair though is is just through the paint down to the drywall paper
like the pic shows below .

what is the best way to repair this do i use tape along with the compound
in other words would it need taping just being down to the paper ?

also how to blend in with the rest of the wall without it showing repair
(if possible ) ?

thx for any advice .

Looks like a rather large piece of wall board was cut out to fix one small hole? I would prime the rectangular area with Guardz primer then skim coat a couple coats of joint compound into that area. It looks like you have some texture to match from the looks of the rest of the wall. On the third coat of mud, you will have to figure out how to match that existing texture.
