drywall cracks?

before repairing drywall cracks with mud and tape, should I sand the surrounding paint? whether it be acrylic latex or oil based paint.

Others may disagree, but yes...and I usually sand deep. feathering out, since this is the only place i use fiberglass tape.

drywall cracks?

Alot of drywallers like to dig the cracks out first then mud tape and mud. I agree the mesh is the way to go. Just mesh over cracl then mud and feather.
