doors


Helllo, can anyone please help me, can you stain moulded internal doors?, B&Q say yes but i am not sure.

I assume you are talking about molded hardboard doors that are usually white?? You may be able to change the color with gel stains. But the color won't match color sample. Trial and error may be needed to get the color you want.

It all depends on what you deem acceptable. I’ve seen model doors on display showing how they can be stained, however I wouldn’t put that door in my garage let alone in my home. Anything can be stained or woodgrained if you follow the proper steps.

Trust me on this, they are more hassle to stain than what they are worth. Just Bill has it right. You can work with some gel stains to get a stained look, but, it takes lots of trial and error to get it right. Hiding the white primed look is a difficult task. You will be ahead of the game if you just switch out the doors with something that is stainable. I know that's not the answer you wanted to hear.............but, after 30 years of watching homeowners try to stain those types of doors, well, it ain't pretty.
