Door knobs

My wife and I have decided to go with oiled bronze with all our fixtures and hardware in our coomin areas(living room,kitchen). You can see the knobs down the hallway from the common room. Is it common or too wierd to have oiled bronze in doorknobs in the hallway and brushed nickel inside the rooms. The fixtures and hardware in the rooms are brushed nickel. Would anyone notice?

Its sort of odd if the same door has 2 different colored handles on either side... but that said I wouldn't worry about it much if you like the look.

If you are trying to sell the house, you might want to. It won't be a huge cost to match the remaining knobs.

So it's one kind of knob on one side of the door, and a different kind of knob on the other side of the door? Or am I misunderstanding that?

I'd say that's a little odd, but not particularly something to worry about. Most houses are uniform in their door knobs, or at least each level of the house will have the same knobs.

I guess you have to decide whether or not it bothers you enough to change it.

I would not do it that way, but hay it's your house.
You would have to find knobs there were the exact same manufacture and same exact workings inside in order to do this.
Due to design changes an old knob on one side and a new one on the other may not work.
And no one's going to sell you half a latch set. Your going to have to buy all new knobs anyway.

It is very common in this area to have different knobs leading into the common hallways. They are brass there and glass in the rooms. My own home is like this as were almost all built in the 20's

How To Fix A Door That Is Not Closing Properly Its Hitting At The Top. The storm door would not close correctly unless I pull it in hard, its hitting the top of the rail where the door close not the hinge side and not the drip cap.

I decided to compromise. I put Antique Brass on all the bedroom/hallway doors as the most neutral finish that I liked. It will go okay with all the bedrooms' different insides.

However, for the bathroom, I am making an exception. I am going to have AB on the outside and Satin Nickel on the inside. I think from the inside of the bathroom with the door closed, the satin nickel will be the right thing as there are so many other satin nickel elements in the room.

Yes, definitely it will be the same manufacturer and exact same style.

Actually, they do make half-and-half sets. However, they were not any finishes I was interested in. Shiny brass and Polished chrome predominately.

Anyone want a half AB and half SN Schlage Andover privacy knob with AB on the inside and SN on the outside? Real cheap!!
