dOOR & TRIM PAINT

I have stained doors and trim. I want to paint them white. What method should I use to get the best result?

dOOR & TRIM PAINT

welcome Gail, I would give the surfaces a sanding to dull any sheen with 120 paper, being sure to thoroughly remove the sanding dust. Then apply a quality bonding primer, oil or latex, your choice. I prefer oil for that job, but that's me. After that you'll notice that you probably need to do some puttying of nail holes and caulking of trim joints. After that you can apply two coats of the finish of your choice. It's a good idea for better job outcome to do a fine sanding with 220 paper after the primer and first finish coats, dusting well of course. If you need any details on any of the steps, check back. good luck
