Does Primer get old/stale

I just received my Sheetrock 1st coat primer. The buckets look old. They haven't been opened as all the seals are intact. But on the bucket it says rotate stock every 90 days. Any ideas on this. I haven't used it but I would like to know in advance. Thanks.

Does Primer get old/stale

Paint and Primer will eventually have the ingredients speperate and they will harden inside the can but it takes a long time for that to happen and even longer if the can has not been opened. Open them up and see if you can get a stir stick all the way to the bottom.

They may fail for sure if they have been exposed to improper storage or temperature extremes. If you returned used paint, leftover in your roller tray for example, you may have introduced mold and things to the can which may take hold as it sits. For best results, use primer and paint within the lifetime and expiration date on the can.

Sarcasm? I do not know the brand and never used it. Is it some product Sheetrock branded?

How can it fail? Please give examples.

I looked everywhere I can't find any manfacture date or expiration date, just it says "rotate every 90 days" in instructions.
