do I need to strip the ceiling?

I was recently stripping wallpaper off of the walls of one of the rooms in my house. It was a pain in the butt because it went paint, wallpaper, paint, wallpaper, wall. To get off the wall paper I had to use some spray chemicals which mostly seemed like liquid soap and a lot of water.

In dousing the walls I managed to cause some of the paint on the ceiling near where the wall and ceiling meet to peel off. Do I need to strip the paint off of the entire ceiling now?

Should I paint the whole ceiling just to make sure that the colors match correctly? And, if so, do I need to put down a layer of primer on the ceiling (both where the paint is and whee there is no paint)?

You will need to patch any damaged spots with drywall compound--then sand--then prime the patches.

Good idea to prime the whole area that had wallpaper. Then lightly sand the primed area.

After that two coats of a good paint like Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams.

That's it.

Already primed and painted the walls, but didn't sand. Is sanding important?

Any input on if I should scrape the whole ceiling?

If you only have paint pealing at the edges,because if the paper removal---then no. Just patch the places where the paint is missing and you should be fine.

The light sanding after priming is just to knock off and little bits of crud that stuck to the primer.
