That's what you were referring to as "recent"? No one is basing their experience on recent formula. We had the usual cast of characters - you and chris bashing Behr, a guy who said Benjamin Moore Ben paint would solve their problems who turned out to be a BM dealer, a guy who said Behr sucks but also said BM paint sucks too, etc. etc.

There are 2 likely scenarios with his quote.

1) He's telling the truth. In this case the problems with Behr paint are now solved.

2) He wasn't telling the truth - he was just appeasing people and marketing. In this case he wasn't truly admitting any problems, but rather telling you what he thought you wanted to hear so you'd try the paint again.

Your point is understood. But you also have to understand we have to discuss things among ourselves too. The bottom line is that there are no fast and easy answers to your questions, and things are constantly changing.

Personally I think this is a bigger problem than some pros around here would like to admit. And don't forget that sometimes what comes across as snobbery is actual a defensive attitude for someone who doesn't know the answer to your question. People around here like to bash big box employees (sometimes warranted, sometimes not) but the fact is not all SW and BM employees are the sharpest tools in the shed either.

As a simple homeowner, i come to get an answer to a question and threads like this (although enjoyable to my debate gene), leave me still wondering what i should do. And then, THEN i remember what it is. I go back and see the first couple/few answers and there it is.

Don't get me wrong, i enjoy you guys/girls .. whatever : )

I am not a professional painter .. and i am old and on a very tight budget .. so please be gentle with me if you respond.

Oh, and most importantly. Thank you to the people who posted that recognized that some of us (DIYers) are on a fixed income and can only afford what we can afford. I mean, after all, if i had money I'd hire one of you!! : )

Sleep well everyone!

Came back to add this: And i used to go to Sherwin Williams, but their staff has gotten a little 'snobbish' and dont seem to have time for 'non-contractors' or a homeowner that can only afford to do one room once in a while. And has questions because it is not an everyday thing.

Restorative sleep to all!! Goodnight.

In reality the original post was answered in the second post, with the next 2 as backup, then jeffnc jumps in to muddy things up with 27 or so more posts

Are you really defending a paint that as little as 4 years ago had drastic issues? I think you are taking the Behr paint thing more personal than anyone bashing them. You wanted your evidence, there it is. You can say anything you want to try and explain it. And BTW, the crap they stick in a can and put on the shelves today is the same crap they stuck in a can and put on the shelves 4 years ago.

I'm not defending anything, other than to say this:
- it might not be great, but it's definitely not "crap". I've used it enough to know. I've never had any issues. And as I said, it's not 4 year old experience, it's 5-10 year old experience. So no, I'm not even commenting on something that existed 5-10 years ago and doesn't even exist anymore. My opinions are based on the past 6 months.

Not even close. What I take personally is dogmatic attitudes, not opinions about paint. Opinions that are well founded and documented are valid, and opinions that aren't - aren't.

I saw just as much evidence of people liking Behr paint. If 1 guy says he likes Behr, and 1 guy replies 3 times saying that guy is stupid, I have news for you - that doesn't make the score 3-1. Those people were bullied and made fun of. Well done - very professional of you guys. It basically invalidated any serious results you wanted to get. But that's just it, isn't it? You don't want valid feedback - you only want to listen to evidence that agrees with the opinion you already have - and will never change. You're the epitome of dogmatic.

No, it's not. But it is a perfect example of the dogma and unfounded opinion that I'm talking about.

As forum readers will quickly learn, there is only 1 valid opinion around here - and that's chris's opinion. Anything that doesn't agree is "muddying". Very professional chris, well done.

One guy in that thread said Behr paint was high quality, and you bullied him so badly he never returned to the forum.

One guy said he also heard similar complaints about BM paint, and he got made fun of.

That thread was basically a witch hunt. If people are afraid to voice their opinions, and only the bullies who agree with each other are allowed to talk, then there's nothing even close to valid about that "survey". And you guys think Consumer Reports is bad - what a joke!

Will you ever learn critical thinking and empirical process? My bet is: no.

There is no point in arguing with you Jeff. I presented you with evidence of Behr even knowing out the issuess with their own paint and you dismiss them.
