Do I need to sand?

I have just painted my room a color that does not look great and want to re-paint it. Has been only a week since. It is the 3rd color on the wall (so about 7-9 coats), and it was not even from before and to be honest perfection is not necessary as it is already not perfect.

The question is: Do you HAVE to sand it now because of the number of coats? or just sanding it makes it more even and easier. or in other words, can i just paint my 4th color of the light color or will it cause problems like chipping. Im going slightly darker so would think its easier.

Thanks,

Do I need to sand?

You do not "HAVE" to sand, but you will want to at the very least do a quick sand of the walls. You will be surprised what was in the old layers of paint that a quick sanding will knock off.

Matt is dead on. You dont have to sand but if you have the extra time go for it, it can only help. Make sure after the sanding to wipe down the walls with a damp cloth.
