Do I need to Prime Textured Ceiling?
Just had the drywall guys finish my drywall in basement and they put a knockdown texture on the ceiling. Usually they said you don't even need to paint it but unfortunately I used the purple mold and mildew resistant drywall on everything so in some small spots you can see the purple showing through.

Do I need to prime or can I just use a coat of ceiling paint? Or can I just use a primer and leave it in just primer without top coating it? Trying to avoid doing a primer/basecoat on the ceiling if I can. As of right now it already looks awesome and is pretty white its just a few spots were the purple shows through. Let me know! Thanks!

You should have primed it before the texture.Don't prime it and leave it.If you're only going to do one coat use a quality ceiling paint.

If you lay it on nice and keep moving so you don't get any lap marks, ONE coat is sufficient. A quality ceiling paint like SW's Emminence will leave you with a nice, white, flat finish. By keeping a wet edge, the ceiling paint soaks up into the texture just enough to give you a nice finished look.......without having to prime or apply 2 coats.
