Deck Staining -- compatible primer & stain issue?

Hi,

I'm about to stain a deck and some related garden structures for the first time. They're pressure-treated, 1 year old, have no product on them. My contractor is terribly impressed with Deckscapes new Life Extender. He gave me some to try, and I must say it really did bring out the wood grain. But I don't want to use Sherwin Williams stain since they don't have an oil based one (at least in PA). Can I use the Deckscapes Life Extender and then apply Benjamin Moore oil-based semi-transparent deck stain? Or is it ill advised to mix and match manufacturers' products this way? I can, of course, overrule my contractor and use a BM primer if people think he's making too much of this. They don't seem to push their primers as much, but their website does show two that can be tinted to the approximate shade of the stain.

Any help would be appreciated.
