deck stain or just sealer


what can i use for my deck , what will last longer , stain or sealer thanks . in windsor ontario canada.

deck stain or just sealer


anything you use is only going to last 2 to 3 years. if you go with just a sealer make sure it is UV resistant. otherwise your wood will turn gray in the first year but still repel the water.

Not familiar with the options you have up in Canada but here are some good deck stains:

SW semi-transparent acrylic
CWF - is good but multiple applications causes a varnish like look
TWP - Excellent product. it is hard to find though. ICI can special order it so you better know the exact quantities you need.

Stay away from Behr products.

I always recommend Sikkens. Use the oil based if it is available.
