Deck stain HELP

Hello,

My dad has a deck and he stained it about 3 years ago but how most of the stain is fading away and peeling off. I want to help him repaint it or stain it again. Could some one please advice on a good method on how to strip the old stain and a good stain finish or a paint to keep my dad's deck last for another 10 years?

Thank you everyone in advance.

The best recommendation would be to use a wood stripper to remove the old finish completely (Flood has a good one). Once it is rinsed and dried, you can use a wood bleach to restore the wood to a natural color, and stain it with a semi-transparent finish or a solid finish (looks like paint). Stain is the way to go on decks for good service.
