Deck Sealer???

Not really a paint question but I wasn't sure which category to place it. Wat are the best choices for a wood deck sealant? Didn't really want to go with any kind of stain. Prefer to keep as close to the natural wood as possible but just want to seal/protect the wood.

Thanks

I like CWF personally. It's reasonably priced and gives you about 2 years of deck protection before recoating. There's hundreds of clear coat products out there & you will get many recommendations, but give CWF-UV a look-see...........it's made by Flood and can be found in most paintstores or Big Box stores such as Lowe's.

CWF is good. Make sure you clean the deck well first- use a wood brightener and a stiff brush, then hose off, let dry.
Another product i have used is A-100. It is a paraffin base though, so once you start with that system you need to stick with it.

I like Olympic Maximum clear waterproof sealant. It's oil base, and a bit pricey, though.

Thanks all!! Heading out to Lowes today to see their selection. I will probably go with the CWF if they have it.

You will need seversl days of warm weather, especially with an oil base product. I like using Sikkens Srd. You wil want to clean the deck first, a sodium percarbonate cleaner is your best bet, as it does not damage the wood and/or landscape. Use a garden hose or pressure washer with low pressure. After cleaning you will need to apply a wood brightner to the deck. Let it dry out well and then apply your sealer/stain. I don't know where you are located, but I personally would not be applying anything to a deck until the late spring.
