Question

Dark Ceiling Paint

I am looking for suggestions for ceiling paint color for my beadboarded covered patio. I would like a warm brown color. I'm trying to give it the appearance of being stained; however I do not want to dilute the paint and rag it on. Just want to roll it on like regular paint. Any recommendation for a nice brown color for the ceiling?

Is this just bare wood now or has it already been painted before?

It is bare wood, however, it is not the proper grade to have it stained.

I'm a bit confused here...you have raw wood and want to "paint" it to look like stained wood? Why not just try a semi-transparent deck stain?

It is my understanding that there are 2 grades of beadboard.... one that better is made of better wood for staining purposed and one that is not intended to be stained.

All that means is its a lower quality wood, but still stainable. It just wont turn out like a fine oak dining table. If it is a dark stain it will hide the wood to some extent anyway; you can do a semi-solid, or solid stain and it looks almost like paint, but with a little 'woodiness'.

You are from Toronto eh?

Would be nice if there were some scraps left over that you could test with stain to see how it takes......
