crown moulding paint color

Ready to paint the ceiling (off white) dune white by Ben. Moore
Decided to add crown moulding...the ceiling & crown moulding should be the same color ??
Hisband thinks the base board & crown moulding should be white ? Help ?

Typically the crown is the same color as the rest of the trim but you can paint it whatever you want.

Hi Doyelc, Technically, as Chrisn said, crown is a trim component and treated the same as all other trim. However, it can be treated as part of, and painted with, the ceiling, as baseboards are sometimes done the same with the walls. I cut and pasted an older post of mine from the interior decorating forum:
Summer11, painting the crown molding with the flat ceiling paint is an awesome effect. I've done it over the years and have started suggesting it more often lately. I talked a woman into it two years ago and she was hesitant, but she loved it and is now doing it through the rest of her projects. Her ceiling color is BM White Dove and she uses a lot of browns. It looks fabulous. It gives the effect of the old plaster crown and is more subdued than having a semi-gloss streak around the top of the room, especially if you have flat walls AND ceiling. Give it a shot, you can always add semi later.

amp I believe is the computer language term for ampersand, which is the & symbol. sometimes, if certain punctuation is missing or incorrect computer syntax is used, or a simple glitch occurs, the language behind the screen will appear as text. It could happen if the post was written in Word and pasted into this window, as different programs read things differently. Doubt that was the case but . . .
